Back to School!

My two eldest returned to High school on Tuesday and my youngest returned to her school today so it gave my free run of the living room to do my ironing.

This is my pile of ironing:

Unfortunately I didn't get through it all as I was distracted by the urge to blog and started browsing again. I didn't realise just how addictive it can be once you get started.

Then I got to thinking about some of my finds that I acquired over the Easter break on one of my Car Boot trips.

I love this fab retro lampshade that will be finding its way into my ebay store very soon as well as the 2 lovely Art Deco Butterfly wing pictures, and 2 Limoges hand mirrors!

And what about this cute Dog figure....isn't he the most endearing little chap with his poorly paw! he too will be offered for sale even though I would love to keep him but needs must .......I have to try
and make a living too.

Here is a fabulous embroidered picture that I found which has a newspaper article stuck on the back with a lovely romantic story behind the design of the embroidery.

The story goes that this elderly couple retired to a cottage on the Island of Easdale a remote part of Scotland in the 1950's ~ it is about a mile wide, has no roads, few trees and back then only 26 people lived on the Island.  They devoted many years of their life compiling a detailed nature diary recording all the birds, butterflies, flowers, animals and sea creatures that they discovered on
the Island. Their diary was published "Island:Diary of a Year on Easdale ~ this embroidery shows a year in the life of Easdale with a nesting Blackbird for Spring, Speedwell, Oxeye Daisy and a tiny sailing boat for Summer, a toadstool with creeping Thistle for Autumn and a Robin Bird, Holly and Brambles for Winter ~ the date on the back is 1987 so I am assuming that is when this was made ~ its absolutely gorgeous. This too will end up in my ebay store!

Finally I found this great Past Times Cushion too!

Well I think that might have to be enough blogging for today. I hope you find what I have posted of interest. So by for now Caroline x
